Stained glass installed by experts.
When you decide to add stained glass to your home, what are the main things you are looking for? A beautiful design? A high quality product? Windows that will solve a privacy problem and add value to your home at the same time.
At Stained Glass San Antonio, our clients frequently have all those concerns. They want the best possible quality, the most beautiful, detail-oriented work. And they want it to last for generations to come. We agree. And we want to add one more thing to the list of important aspects of stained glass: the installation.
It’s all well and good to pick a beautiful stained glass window design. But you also need to make sure that the company building it can do expert installation. Stained Glass San Antonio does three very different types of installation, depending on the piece and the area of placement within the home.
Our standard method is to install the new panel of stained glass directly onto the inside of the existing glass window or door. In this way, the stained glass is protected from the elements by the original glass. It will be easy to keep clean. And it is bonded to the glass in such a way that no dirt or debris can get between the two panels of glass.
With Stained Glass San Antonio, all of our installers are highly trained and know exactly how to install a window to be a perfect and permanent fit.
Our other two installation methods are used less frequently. If you have commissioned, let’s say, a stained glass window for the inside of your shower, you know that it will be constantly wet. While that won’t bother the glass, it can affect the lead strips that hold the stained glass together over time. In a case such as that, we would sandwich the stained glass panel in between the existing window glass, and another clear pane of glass.
Both of these installation methods have an advantage that might surprise you. Adding stained glass will give a single paned window the thermal efficiency of a double paned window.
What about our third installation method? Stained Glass San Antonio refers to this as hanging stained glass. With this method, the panel is hung on a chain, either in front of a window, in a pass through area, or even on a wall. This is a terrific way to get use out of an actual antique stained glass window, or to have a custom made design that is more mobile, able to be moved from house to house or even room to room if you decide to redecorate.
