San Antonio Stained Glass Transoms Windows

San Antonio Stained Glass Transoms Windows

Many of our customers are unfamiliar with the term, “transom window.” These are the narrow horizontal windows that you might find above a door, above a doorway, or at the top of a wall in any room. They can be placed near the ceiling or on top of other windows. The ones found above a front door are frequently half-moon in shape. You might have heard them referred to as a fanlight, if they consist of several panes of glass forming a semi-elliptical shape, or you might have heard them called an “overlight” or “hopper.” In San Antonio, stained glass transoms are a fantastic way of giving your home a unique effect that will elevate your décor!

Now that we’ve described them, we’re sure you know what we are talking about. And transoms are a fantastic place to add stained glass! Transoms windows are not merely decorative, they provide a wonderful source of extra light as well. Their position on the wall allows more light to enter the rooms at certain times of the day. And, their position also ensures that you never need to cover them with curtains or blinds at night, for privacy.

San Antonio stained glass transoms are one fantastic way of creating a dramatic entryway, particularly if they are combined with matching stained glass panels in the sidelights on either side of the front door, and in the front door itself.

San Antonio stained glass transoms are all custom designed to the style, pattern, textures, and colors that you prefer. We work with you to create stained glass panels that match your décor, your architectural style, and of course, your personal tastes.

If you are still unsure of why you might want stained glass added to your transom windows, or what kind of looks you might achieve, we invite you to peruse our stained glass transom gallery. Yes, these windows are so popular in San Antonio that we have created a whole gallery just to show off different transoms!

If you have a row of windows in your living room with a row of transoms above them, this is a fantastic place to add custom designed stained glass. You’ll still see out the regular windows, but will have the benefit of the beauty of stained glass in your home via the transoms! And unlike normal windows, they will never need curtains or blinds. They afford privacy, and continue to let the light shine through into your home.

San Antonio stained glass transoms . . . an incredible decorating idea? A practical and affordable way to add uniqueness and beauty to your home? An unusual way to make your home distinctive while adding to its value at the same time? We’d say all of the above! Please contact us if you are interested in finding out more about adding stained glass to your home, or if you’d like to schedule a free in-home consultation with one of our designers.
